this series I rate as one of the greatest of TV's, all-time. it's not only comedic; it is intelligent, even subversive, comedy. it features one of the world's most beautiful women (Jenna Fischer)and the strongest supporting cast-- as well as writers, that I have ever seen. the breaking down of the fourth wall does not distract, but adds dimension and depth. bravo bravo bravo!!! what a show! if the mary tyler moore show was the sitcom of the 70s, and the dick van dyke show was the sitcom of the 60s, this is the sitcom of the new millennium. andy, when he comes back, seems like an impression of Michael Scott (Steve Carrell). it is interesting to consider whether the show would have lasted more seasons, had Carrell remained as office manager Michael Scott. His leaving gave other characters a chance to develop more of an arc, and this was not unsuccessful, but there was no longer a star around. // I just completed re-viewing the ninth season. it has become clear to me that the character of Michael Scott was replaced, and ably, by the couple of Jim Halpern, and Pam Beasley. In the preceding seasons, the show got kind of far away from the original premise, with the addition of very strong actors as office managers ( Will Ferrell; the lead guy from SEX,LIES,AND VIDEOTAPE). I'm not saying they overpowered the show, but someone else might have said that. This season brings it all back together, and features many of the cast discussing what the show meant.
