This series is very suspenseful. It is set in the near future, the world is in ecological and political collapse. It is written from the girls' points of view. Each book has the perspective of a different character. There is a lot of longing for home, for parents, and for their parents' world, which is so different from the one they are living in. The writing and vocabulary is simple. The young women characters and fast-moving story make it a fun read.
