If you are not familiar with the history of China in the 20th Century, this is going to be a difficult movie to follow. Even though they identify the major characters in the Revolution, it is like a foreigner viewing a 2 hour summary of the American Revolutionary period. Too many people and events to cover and if you can't fill in the blanks, it's not very enjoyable. Add to that, the style of the documentary is classic Communist dialectic--lots of haranguing ideology with raised fists for emphasis. Actually there is far less in this film than in most of its kind. View it to get a glimpse of how the Chinese have been programmed to view their history, not for historical insights or entertainment.
