This movie felt like it was made by a second year film student. It had all the cliches of a typical student film.

This film is less a Sci Fi and more a tragic drama. The story is slow and a bit dull at times. The cinematography was bland.
I like the story line. A can see the potential this screenplay could be with some added creative and artistic support.

"Great idea with an awesome movie trailer," as hania4987 stated Oct 29, 2013. For the most part, I agree with Lucas' comments concerning degree of SciFi in this picture. Definitely NOT what would be led to expect from the trailer! Could have replaced Second Earth with any number of destinations (real or imagined) and otherwise kept the remaining plot, etc., intact. It's a very thoughtful picture, which many viewers could relate to regarding undoing/redoing events in their past. Very slow moving, as others commented. Even at only 92 minutes (TV movie timeframe), could have gotten story across in 60-75 minutes. I had to rewind couple times, and finally used Descriptive Narration feature to try to understand "boarding pass" issue. (Thought she was just giving him a family photo.)

"Dude, what if there was, like, another earth? And, like, another you?" 2011's "Another Earth" has a premise that is half-clever and half what you'd expect some stoned college students to come up with. While I appreciate that it's a film that takes a sci-fi premise and does something different and unexpected, this film, as others have pointed out, is very, very slow and does almost nothing with its "another earth" plot. Much of the story has to do with the protagonist (Brit Marling), who killed a man's wife and child in a drunk driving accident. Years later, she goes to apologize to the man (William Mapother), but ends up working for him and falling in love with him. Marling, who co-wrote and produced, is currently on Netflix's "The OA," and I can't decide if she's deliberately acting in a stilted, awkward way or she's simply a poor actor. Did I mention how slow this film is?

The idea for the story is good. The actual production is horrible. Very slow, lacks dialogue, poor acting.

This is the first film that I have awarded 5 stars. Uniquely original, superb acting and the musical score is hauntingly beautiful.

No need for over bloated budgets or over the top CGI to produce a wonderfully engaging film that can only be described as BRILLIANT!

"Interstellar" had one tenth of the soul and one thousandth of the imagination of this gem.

If you are looking for science fiction, action or adventure this is not it.

A brilliant and edgy misical score provides this movie a connection to the viewer that may have otherwise remained unmade. The cast is a rough thread and the second Earth is the needle, guiding them through the fabirc labyrinth, pricking fingers with questions designed to be answered only by circumstance. I enjoyed my experience, tagging along for the ride, as the cloth enveloped my curiosity, perhaps not sating it, but at least providing an entertaining sweater to wear.

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being good. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

great idea with an awesome movie trailer -- too bad the movie did not live up to the expectation. The closest comparison I have is the movie "Signs". This film was trying to be incredibly philosophical and profound but was not that well written or executed. This particular story did not need the gimmick of Earth 2. There were approximately 5 minutes that dealt with the theme of another earth. The movie would have made more sense if its starting point was the last scene.
