After she and her philandering husband are divorced, Sophie McPhee sells her San Francisco bakery and returns to her hometown of Lonesome Way, Montana, planning to steer clear of men and focus on her new bakery, A Bun in the Oven. Sophie eventually sees Rafe Tanner, her first crush, who now runs his family's ranch, and who spent most of their childhood ignoring her. But as the single father of a twelve-year-old girl whose mother abandoned them, Rafe is a changed man now. While Rafe is stunned to discover that Sophie's grown into an irresistibly beautiful woman, and Sophie realizes that she still has a crush on Rafe, they have been deeply hurt. Both have their guards up. Will they ever admit that home is truly where the heart is?

Whiile I enjoyed this book I think it would have been much better if Gregory had developed a couple of the story lines further. The attack by Henderson was wrapped up too quickly. There were several ways it could have been extended and developed. Did he go to jail? Did he get out on bond and continue to cause trouble? Also the return of Ivy's mother was just left hanging with a hint that she might be visiting Ivy. It would have added more to the story if Ivy had gone with her mother, and Sophia and Rafe could have grown closer while tracking Ivy down.
