A New York Times Bestseller

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn comes the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, in the fourth of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix.

Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend's brother for . . . well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret . . . and fears she doesn't know him at all.

Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought of as nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can't seem to publish an edition without mentioning him. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same--especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. When he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide . . . is she his biggest threat-- or his promise of a happy ending?

My favorite in the series so far. Love Penelope since the first book and always thought highly of her. So happy with how the author developed her character through the series thus far. I also always liked Danbury, and this book made me like her even more! Can’t wait to read more of the series.

This is my favorite out of the first four books. This series has been a hard sell for me since my unfavorable experience with the first book. After the third book, I considered cutting my losses, but the Netflix series and my stubbornness spurred me on.

I loved Collin and Penelope's romance. It was highly romantic and even had me experiencing a few emotional "feels."

I'm only giving it 4 stars for now (a much higher rating than the previous books) and who knows, I might just bump it up as time goes by and I've read more of the series.

I've been devouring the Bridgertons books this year, and Colin and Penelope's story was one of the ones I've been looking forward to. It was as delightful as I hoped, though I'm far enough into the series to start getting annoyed at the Bridgerton males' tendencies toward temper and alpha controlling shenanigans. The heroines are delightful and, as a friend put it, "always clap back," but the heroes leave a bit to be desired. As a whole, though, the Bridgerton family is a delight, and any scene with sibling interactions is certain to be charming.

Great characters underserved by a less-than-scintillating plot (yes, these books have plots). But still fun.

A fabulous, funny story with great characters. Having read several of the Bridgerton series it is becoming very difficult to decide which one is best!! This is definitely one of the very best!

It is fun to read these in order but each can be read as a stand alone story. This is a great book with charming characters. It is witty and endearing. This author touches on many everyday problems with grace. I'd read this again.

I'm reading thru the bridgerton series in order and am enjoying this writer, while this book can stand alone, it's much more fun to read them in order. Great beach read.
