This book was definitely better than the prequel, in my opinion. Now that Kenna knew what was going on, the plot was really driven with a single goal, so I found that much more effective. The authors handled an ensemble cast pretty well; despite my existing note that the three D names are confusing, the group is moderately well balanced. I say moderately because the quantity of characters mean some of them lack depth. I couldn't really tell you how Dante and Deacon are all that different from each other. Draven was much more lackluster in this one; now that he and Kenna are together, he basically seems like he plays the part of loyal, protective, perfect boyfriend instead of having a complex role.
The writing was decent. They balanced out the heavy-duty action scenes with internal reflection, so the pace was pretty good.
