The scribe Sarah married Darius, and at times she feels as if she has married the Persian aristocracy, too. There is another point she did not count on in her marriage-Sarah has grown to love her husband. Sarah has wealth, property, honor, and power, but her husband's love still seems unattainable. Although his mother was an Israelite, Darius remains skeptical that his Jewish wife is the right choice for him, particularly when she conspires with her cousin Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Ordered to assist in the effort, the couple begins a journey to the homeland of his mother's people. Will the road filled with danger, conflict, and surprising memories, help Darius to see the hand of God at work in his life-and even in his marriage? A hidden message, treachery, opposition, and a God-given success, will lead to an unlikely bounty.

I absolutely loved this book. This book continues the story of Sarah and Darius from Harvest of Rubies.
I loved reading about how the marriage between Sarah and Darius progressed, their issues, their secrets, their trust in each other and their love for one another.
I loved how the storyline took them on a journey to Jerusalem with Nehemiah.
I absolutely loved how Darius was confronted by the secrets and painful memories of his past by God in order for him to realize how much he needs God and His forgiveness as well as His love.
Because without God’s love in us we can never truly love anyone around us because we can’t give what we don’t have ourselves.

I like Tessa Afshar's books a lot, and I particularly enjoy the historical details. I found Harvest of Rubies to be compelling with well-developed characters. For me, though, this sequel fell short. The plot points seemed a bit contrived and a good portion of the book read like someone telling a story rather than inviting the reader into it.

This is an excellent book I love reading books that have a biblical story to tell. She wrote it in such a way that it keeps you intereste the whole way through

Harvest of Gold is the sequel to Harvest of Rubies. The first book focus's mostly on Sarah and in this book the reader learns more about her husband Darius. As the story unfolds the characters grow and evolve individually. The author writes in a way that is easy to connect with the characters. This novel is hard to put down, it's compelling, inspiring and insightful as well as spiritual.

This novel follows Tessa Afshar's 'Harvest of Rubies'. The reviews inside the front cover should be read. (I wish I could relate them all to you.) I concur with those who said this story was "compelling, inspiring, heart-stopping, and heartrending; a wonderful story with a totally captivating heroine. Readers won't be able to tear themselves away."
